Marty Briggs is a prize-winning journalist whose career spans more than 25 years. He started in radio while still a student at the University of Arizona. Even before he received his degree in Radio/Television he was producing radio programs, interviewing guests and fielding questions on his own sports talk show.
Following graduation he moved to television as a sports director/anchor for stations throughout the country and prior to starting The Athlete’s Edge was a news anchor at KPLC-TV in Lake Charles, Louisiana. He has conducted hundreds of interviews with professional, collegiate and high school athletes and coaches, and with a wide-range of federal, state and local officials, businessmen and private citizens. His talent and techniques have been honed by experience.
In addition to his broad media background, Marty has extensive personal experience in amateur and professional sports. He has played for the Louisiana Swashbucklers of the Intense Football League and the Lake Charles Land Sharks of the National Indoor Football League. His experiences give him a rare perspective from both sides of the microphone, and a unique ability to connect with athletes, coaches and “the front office.”
